Who should I contact in the event of an emergency or mental health crisis situation?
Wellness SA is not a crisis service. We support people with mild to moderate mental health issues. However, we do understand that, at times, crisis situations can occur. Respond to an emergency as you would at any other time by calling SA Ambulance or South Australian Police where appropriate. You can also contact Mental Health Triage for phone support and advice on 13 14 65.

Do I require a referral to see an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker?
To see an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker at Wellness SA, we recommend that you first see your General Practitioner (GP) to complete a Mental Health Treatment Plan. This plan allows you and your GP to decide what your needs are, what help you require and what your goals are. The plan will also entitle you to a Medicare rebate on the cost of up to 10 sessions per calendar. For more information about the cost involved please refer to the Fee Structure.
How many sessions will I require?
Each treatment plan is individualised and the level of support required can vary from person to person. The amount of sessions needed is assessed on a case by case basis. All therapy sessions are voluntary and there is no set number of sessions that an individual must attend.
How long does an appointment go for?
A standard appointment will go for 50 minutes. If you are attending your first appointment with Wellness SA, we recommend that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment in order to complete the initial administrative forms. Otherwise, we recommend that you arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment time and allow 5-10 minutes following the appointment to arrange another appointment (if required) and to process the payment.
Where do the appointments take place?
We are located at Lincoln Medical Centre, 10 Haigh Street, Port Lincoln, South Australia 5606. Most appointments will take place during business hours, if you require an after hours or Saturday morning appointment please speak with the Wellness SA staff.
What happens if a client needs to cancel an appointment?
Wellness SA asks that you provide at least 24 hours notice to cancel an appointment so we can try and offer it to someone else. If you do not provide at least 24 hours notice and do not attend you will be charged a $50 cancellation fee. Medicare rebate does not cover cancellations or non-attendance so you will be required to fund this yourself.
